2018 Parent Testimonials

Davis Groves Educational Services were easy, professional, confident, organized and fear-free for my two daughters, and as a result my husband and me. They assisted my oldest daughter in getting into the master’s program of her dreams. Our youngest, rocked her ACT with the tutor selected just for her. So as a result, she also got into the college of her dreams. My biggest wish for both girls was that they would pick their school and not have to take the school that “picked” them. They had choices and the entire process was stress free for us. Deb and Aubrey assisted each girl but also, put the ownership onto the kids’ shoulders. As a matter of fact, I never even saw or read our youngest’s college essay. That was forbidden in order that it remain in her voice and she own the full content as the best representation of who she is. You bet I will recommend them with a huge smile to anyone who asks, and also recommend that the parents sit back and watch their kids bloom.

Charles and I cannot thank you and Aubrey enough. After reading the many essays Evie had written for her application, I must say we were both overwhelmed on a few levels. First of all, I don’t think we even realized how much work that would be for Evie! Not for the faint of heart. Reading what Evie wrote was truly incredible- we were in a bit of awe. Aubrey did a fabulous job with Evie on the editing. Evie felt from the start that you both understood her which made her feel so great. For Evie to get so sick in the middle of the deadlines was a bit stressful and she is beyond happy to have everything in to USC. It’s in their court now so we will anxiously await and most certainly keep you and Aubrey posted.

Hi Deb,

I’m pretty sure Lili has let you know about the great news—she was accepted at Baylor and has put in her deposit and filled out a housing application and is on her way. As a mom going through this process for the first time, I would like to tell you both how great it was to have you both on our team as we tried for her dream college, Baylor. Constructing the college resume was very challenging for Lili and me but your constructive advice was invaluable in making the resume one that colleges would find impressive. Also, the help Lili received in writing and editing her college essays made that work much less stressful for her, and me, and I know it improved her writing skills, which she will need for college papers.

My husband and I want to thank you for working with us so diligently to get her into her dream college. Thanks for keeping us both on schedule so we wouldn’t miss any deadlines. You always were there to answer our questions and I personally always felt better after talking with you that Lili had a good shot at Baylor. Thanks for your time, expertise, and patience with us. It all paid off. The support and encouragement Lili and I got from both of you kept us going and, no doubt, helped Lili to be “Baylor Bound” this Fall! Lili is over the moon with excitement!

I wanted to pass along how valuable your services were for Antonia. She realized this many times over as she watched the lack of preparation cost many of her friend’s admission to their college of choice. Many of these friends were good students with as many accolades as Antonia, but no inside knowledge on how to present themselves in the best light on their application. You guys taught that to Antonia, and she’s now a true believer in how much the effort on the college application matters. What a shame to accomplish all these great things in high school and not be able to present a competitive and compelling case to colleges. Thank you for guiding us along the way. Deborah Davis Groves first helped me perfect my college essays to make sure they were written in a way that would keep the admissions counselors interested. Next, she helped me finalize my decision on what college I wanted to attend after I graduated, along with a list of back up school just in case. To make sure we were making the right decision, we made a list of traits my version of a "perfect college" would have. Finally, she helped me set aside some time to sit down and focus on getting my applications done and submitted with the help of her daughter, Aubrey. This was the part that had the most impact in my eyes. Without them, I would've taken a break the moment I got stuck and would have put it off until it was too late. They were so helpful and saved me a lot of stress during this process.

You helped me actually get my essays done. I have a really bad habit at putting things off and thanks to y’all I was able to get them done. Because y’all allowed me to show up to your house and helped me do it while I was there. If I had tried to do it by myself I would’ve been completely overwhelmed and just given up.
